The Miracle As Well As Mind: Kindness

Within the third article inside the series about the “miracle” and the “mind,” we’re going to bring kindness and unkindness into the discussion about specialness. In A Course in Miracles (ACIM), kindness is associated with humility and learning and unkindness is to use arrogance and specialness. The miracle-minded obviously choose humility, learning and kindness which means they’ll eventually discover how to forgive all specialness which can be what maintains the separation from God. Belief in separation pertains to everyone who is usually the one Son perceiving Himself separate and different fragments. All unkindness is a result of the anxiety in the mind when we repress our fear and guilt as an alternative to forgiving our specialness desires. We blame and project it onto individuals that are very an integral part of us actually.

There are two books by Kenneth Wapnick on, “The Healing Power Kindness.” Volume 1 is on, “Releasing Judgment” and Volume 2 on, “Forgiving Our Limitations.” In my opinion, these ought to be required reading and continuing study for anyone who is a serious Course student. The subsequent passage says all this:

When you set aside the brilliant metaphysics of an Course in Miracles along with its sophisticated psychological insights, this course may be pared into one easy rule: Be kind. Discover kind, then not only do you think you’re not practicing the Course, there is no way you may also set out to be aware of it. Regardless of how brilliant knowing of their metaphysics may be, if you’re not being kind toward someone else, about to catch doing what this product is asking (The Healing Power of Kindness, Vol.1: Releasing Judgment by Kenneth Wapnick, p. 10, underline mine).

Not surprisingly admonition, we insist upon being unkind:

This lack of ability to truly practice A Course in Miracles’ kind principles of forgiveness that they study, and occasionally teach, has perhaps been one of the most serious failing among its students. This book’s sequel, “Few Decide to Listen,” discusses how students often conceal their thought system of specialness beneath the guise of spiritual counseling or friendship. The possible lack of simple kindness is, unfortunately, unmistakable to all except the Course student making the spiritual pronouncements (The Message Of an Course in Miracles: All Are Called, p. 306).

The non-dualistic meaning of kindness is not understood here inside the connection with dualism providing that specialness is continuously chosen for the reason that ego comes from an unkind thought against God and Heaven. Our unwillingness to acknowledge this concerning the ego, along with what everything that thought system is able to perform, is one area that hinders our progress using the Course. We must be ready to consider the ego with the Holy Spirit – the Teacher – and take that darkness to Him for forgiveness. Nothing might be hidden which is right out the Course.

Kindness To Others Is Kindness To Self

In his books on kindness, Mr. Wapnick also talks about the cause of a person’s unkind behavior is the same fear (and repressed guilt) that’s employed in our personal mind and that is what unites us. We have precisely the same right-mind and also the same capacity to make a choice from them. Opting to be kind will not make us different or better; rather it indicates we are prepared to practice the “kind principles” of the Course in order that we can easily learn how to understand everything it can be teaching. It’s just a question of priority.

He procedes state that in learning how to be kind towards others, we have been practicing being kind toward ourselves because, “you plus your brother are certainly one. These are an element of you. About to catch different.” This holds straight away to the heart in the ego’s thought system wherein the concept of difference is the place where the ego began – God with his fantastic Son were separate and other – and undoes it. Even the slightest hint of specialness will be the ego. What he could be saying becomes clear should you actually study and use the type forgiveness from the Course!

A life threatening student in the Course wants to know what therefore. These students would rather be considered a happy learner using the only true teacher – the Holy Spirit – instead of a spiritually special teacher of the ego of all sorts. These are very happy to study on Him how to be clear of the burdens linked to denying the Truth:

Forgiveness’ kindness is obscure in the beginning, because salvation isn’t understood, nor truly sought for (S-2.I.1). And here you’ll lie down the duty of denying truth. This can be the burden that is certainly terrible, and not the reality (T-21-VI.7).

Self versus “self” -or- Identity versus “identity”

From the Course, there’s a distinction between the “Self” that’s our true Identity as Christ as well as the “self” identity together with the ego. This is a key factor to comprehend because the first accepts the function God gave us through being God-created; nevertheless the latter is self-created and completely dependent on the ego as well as purpose of vengeance and separation. Everyone already believes these are the ego. We would not be here otherwise. To take into consideration the possibly of the being correct plus need for correction restores aspire to your head as it suggests the best way out.

When a spiritually special Course teacher (a type of unhealed healer) teaches specialness in the ego, these are being unkind towards others and thus themselves even though they are highly unlikely to view it like that. They’re also unlikely to believe it is kind for a person to possess boundaries together because their fear and guilt (and anxiety) are really great. However, honestly going through the world, we see it is full of the fragmented Sonship who’s anxiety-ridden from identifying with all the ego self. Unkindness is rampant on the planet plus the program community. As Wapnick states though, we will not educate yourself on the Course until we elect to get kind.

Our behaviors will be the tyoe of which mind we’ve chosen (God or even the ego). The ego is often a vengeful and tyrannical thought system of unkindnesses whereas freedom from that is tied straight away to kindness:

Without anxiety your head is wholly kind (T-6.III.3).
Freedom can’t be learned by tyranny of any kind (T-8.IV.7).

It’s also unkind to switch the Course and spiritual specialness does that through competition with God and thus everyone. One small change effectually changes the whole thing with the Course, a complete thought system. If you feel you understand that, you do not. Once you know you do, you may automatically be kind for you personally comprehend the inherent value kindness plays in learning and comprehending the Course. As Wapnick states, “It’s something of priority.”

When Kindness Calls

To sum up, let’s reverse how to Mr. Wapnick and his book, “The Message Of an Course In Miracles: Few Choose To Listen,” and also to Chapters 4 and 6 on spiritual specialness. I’ll highlight some important passages beginning from an extremely telling quote. First, however, i want to also include that two-book set (including, “Few Opt to Listen”) also need to be required ongoing study for serious Course students:

“Love is frightening because it is all-encompassing and within it there isn’t any room for specialness or individual uniqueness.”

He proceeds to indicate that if were lured to call awareness of our opinion is a deficiency, or lack, we’re wanting to make such limitation real and into something that divides the Sonship. The rock of salvation is the fact that no one can lose so another gains, i.e., you’ll find nothing to look at from another, not really their success. However, we do not appreciate this until following the required time purchased learning why these words are correct along with their true meaning. What your body appear to be doing lets us know which internal teacher we’ve chosen – the ego or even the Holy Spirit. The ego is limitations, judgment, specialness and separation – abdominal muscles opposite of the Sonship together.

When we’re not kind, we are not Course students or teachers of God (the Course as our path). When kindness calls, it should be chosen as kindness results in miracle-mindedness. Unkindness is of the ego.
