Sexual assault has affected our global society for more than 10,000 years. We allow predators to roam free in broad daylight and don’t take any action to curtail their behavior. Quite often when a a part of society is at peril we rush to fix them, as it carries a detrimental impact on the entire. Sadly, sexual assault, sexual harassment, physical abuse, and neglect against women and girls doesn’t even get yourself a nod.

“We will be the only animal in the world that repeatedly abuses and sexually assaults smaller and weaker of the species for entertainment or sport. We’ve got turn into a predatory global society that’s not ready to manage predatory behavior towards girls and women.”

Why are sexual assault and the other predatory behaviors toward girls and women allowed to exist in an information rich global society? Allow me to share some facts and a possible approach toward solutions to ending sexual assault.

Sexual violence devastates individuals,families and communities. Distrust and fear permeates our communities and defines how members live amongst each other. We build a lesser community plus a lesser society for everyone to exist in.

Sexual violence is really a travesty against the fundamental and inalienable Universal Promise of Human Rights.

Sexual violence against women reflects fundamental gender inequality and perpetuates it. A culture it doesn’t value a lady’s voice may have trouble respecting a ladies directly to choose who or what she will engage in.

Violence against women cost the US public over $200 Billion annually.

Sexual violence is less inclined to be reported, to get prosecuted, also to lead to conviction than other crimes. A criminal offence which cannot be successfully prosecuted is, in essence, a “Non-Crime”. Society tacitly condones a “non-crime” being a crime without having punishment.

We are able to end sexual violence through real education about women’s full and equal rights, respectful relationships, and real consequences for criminal behavior.
To finish this barbaric crime, victims must break their silence to take these senseless assaults for an end. We must believe being a society that we’ll no longer tolerate this behavior. Sexual assault has no put in place our families, communities, and nation.
