The difficulty comes in case these tiny germs get trapped as part of your water system and multiply, potentially bringing about Legionnaires’ Disease.
According to the Federal government, there were 503 cases of Legionnaires’ Disease in the UK in 2019. It’s a life threatening illness which can be lethal – symptoms to understand include fever, frustration, cough and breathlessness.
While legionella bacteria may cause problems anywhere due to the right conditions, a few areas such as spots where water will be stored or recirculated, the place that the water temperature is in between 20-45°C or where corrosion, sludge, scale as well as organic matters can be found, are considered to be with much higher risk.
Those who are more susceptible to an infection, including the elderly the ones with weakened immunity processes, need to be especially cautious.
